Dear Akunnaya,

By definition, a Mentor is ‘anyone to who another EXPECTS tutelage in forms that enhance growth and development’. This tutelage may take the form of Spoken, Written, Conduct, et al.

One CEASES to be a Mentor the moment a Protege decides he/she is NOT extracting any further values as originally intended.

Of course, this cessation does NOT have to translate into a written, verbal or physical exchange. It happens at the moment of decision.

Your idea of Mentoring is interesting you know, well I see mentoring from a totally different point of view, a protégé picks his mentor and if a mentor does not meet his expectations or rather serve the given purpose I believe that the aim then is defeated. The big question then is does he cease to be a mentor figure?
